The papers generated in this Archive come from two institutions:
- The Council of La Palma's Municipal Offices
- The Notary Offices with the historical protocols from La Palma del Condado District, made up of Almonte, Bollullos par del Condado, Chucena, Escacena del Campo, Hinojos, La Palma del Condado, Paterna del Campo, Rociana del Condado, Villalba del Alcor y Villarrasa's collections, as it was established since the 16th Century. It contains the Public Deeds' book having been made before notary, the inventory and division of good records, and other documents.
The Archive Service arranges, taking into account the register of December 2010, more than 4.000 bundle of papers. 2.053 of these papers belong to the Notary's Protocol, taking up about 120 m/l., and distributed onto the 10 sections from the towns mentioned above and whose right of depositing ended on 1977.
The Municipal Collection contains 2.087 boxes and 35 books, whose dates come from 1389 to 1996. Documents from the administrative offices are added regularly. Depending on the medium, the Collection has a growing compilation of graphic documentation and photographs related to the city.
It has a good state of preservation in general, without affecting regular losses. It is only the notary's documentation that has books which indicate the former abandonment of this collection. Although most books are bound in scrolls, there are unbounded books in bad conditions.
